At the London Portobello Film Festival this September!

The film has been selected for screening at this colourful festival’s 15th birthday in the famous London neighbourhood. Thanks to the Irish Latin America Film Festival’s organiser Tadgh O’Cruadhlaoich, who sent the film onto Portobello after the Dublin sscreenings last April! The festival runs from 2-19 September 2010 and the birthday celebrations include 600 premiere films, masterclasses, exhibitions and many more interesting happenings. To top it all up admission to all events is completely free!

After the Revolution is screening on the 14 of September at 8pm, part of a special documentary evening at Westbourne Studios. Visit their site to download the full programme and find out more information about the venues and the multiple events.

The film at the Latin America Week in Ireland

The film has just been screened as part of the Latin America Week, organised by Lasc in Dublin and supported by other Latin American, foreign aid and development organisations in Ireland. After the Revolution screened in Galway, Dublin and Belfast.

Paul McGrath and Leticia Agudo, the filmmakers, attended the screenings in Dublin on Wednesday 21st of April, and at the Stormont Parliament building in Belfast on Friday 23rd. The film was greatly received  by audiences and it sparked some lively discussions afterwards. In Dublin, the film was shown as part of the 11th Latin America Film Festival, organised every year by Tadhg O’Cruadhlaoich, and in Stormont it was organised by Latinoamerica Unida, the association for the Latin American community in Belfast.

Win at NodoDocFest!

We were just told on Monday night that the film has won this years’ edition of the International Documentary Festival NodoDocFest. The doc was shown on May 9 as part of the competittive Panorama section, programmed by Fabrizio Arpesella. The awards were given on Monday 11 in the evening. Due to us being at Hot Docs with Forty Foot, we were sorry not to be able to be there to enjoy this great festival and very happy news for Whackala.

This is what the judges said about the film: “[it] showed a clear historical context and evolution of what may be considered “third world” with a simplicity almost incredible in view of the complexity of the topic… For the simplicity of the editing and the close connection with the lives of the characters it was possible for the viewer to get carried by emotions and live the social status of the protagonists.”

Screening details at NodoDocFest

After the Revolution (Después del Zapatismo) has been selected for the Panorama competitive section in International Documentary Festival NodoDocFest in Trieste, Italy

The film will be shown on the 9th of May at 15:50 at the Cinema Ariston in Trieste. Check out our entry and the rest of the festival program at www.nododocfest.org

The 3rd edition of the International Documentary Film Festival, NodoDocFest will be held on May 6-11, at the Ariston Theatre, in Trieste, Italy, and this year has a particular focus on women.

13 films will compete in the Panorama section from 10 countries around the world: Italy, Belarus, Greece, Israel, England, Slovakia, Ireland, Switzerland, Argentina, Belgium, and 3 special events that are not competing in the film festival.

Accepted to its first festival!

Depués del Zapatismo has been selected for screening at the NodoDocFest in Trieste, Italy, in the Panorama section: new trends in documentary films. 

The festival takes place from 6th to 11th May 2009. 

Nododocfest is organized by Il Nodo Cultural Association (Associazione Culturale Il Nodo) as a festival solely dedicated to non-fiction films. You can see past editions of the festival at http://www.nododocfest.org
